Kubik-Finch holds auxiliary meeting

Traer Kubik-Finch #142 Legion Auxiliary met Tuesday July 21, 2009, 7 p.m. at the Memorial Building with 15 attending.

Flags presented by Verona Staker and Audrey Babinat. President Karen Podhajsky opened the meeting with Chaplain Jean Beenken with an opening prayer. The Pledge to the flag and Auxiliary preamble recited. Star Spangled Banner sung and the Vacant Chair read.

Eight officers answered roll call and minutes of June read by Secretary Irene Hanus.

Treasurer report was given by Kathy Manfull and put on audit.

Several bills presented approved and paid. Revised Standing rules ok'd and signed by department. Unit officers form sent to department. Notices of dues for 2010 will be coming middle of August.

Bloodmobile drive was a success of 71 donated and many volunteers helping on July 8.

Iowa Veterans Home Saturday, August 1 annual picnic at Malloy Hall beginning at 11 a.m. Our Unit to furnish two chickens, two pies, mixed fruit and two dozen deviled eggs. Volunteers to be present and help with escorting and serving as most residents are in wheel chairs.

Signed cards for Sherry McLaughlin, Marlene Valentine, Henriette Topliff, Ona Fordice (brother Jim Goodwin), and Rodger Knoop.

Installation of officers for 2009-2010 conducted by Arlene Schmidt. President Karen Podhajsky, Vice President Sarah Stock, Recording Secretary Verona Staker, Corresponding Secretary Audrey Lenaburg, Treasurer, Kathy Manfull, Chaplain Jean Beenken, Historian Rebeccya Harrison, Sgt at Arms Audrey Babinat. Karen Podhajsky also received a "Past President Pin" completing one year as president.

President Karen presented a gift to Irene Hanus retiring secretary of nearly 18 years for the unit.

Closing prayer and members sang "God Bless America". Delicious dessert was served by hostess, Dorothy Hanus.

The next meeting is Tuesday, August 18, 6 p.m. annual potluck picnic bring covered dish and own dishes. Hostesses are Linda Orht and Joan Schaffer.
