The Winding Stairs Festival has a new addition this year. On Saturday, August 14, North Tama BASIC will sponsor Cardboard Boat Races. They will be held at the Traer Pool at 12pm.

Teams can consist of two to four people. There are two age groups, under age 14 and 14 and older. Teams may either build on-site with a kit or make their own boat ahead of time. All participants must wear a life vest. Each boat and its crew must race two full laps in the pool. Some oars will be available, but please bring your own.

Teams can pre-register by August 12 for $5. Race day registration will be $10 which includes registration and materials. For boats built on-site, kits will be sold that day from 11 to 11:30am. Kit boats will only hold two people.

Prizes will be awarded for diffferent categories.
