Traer Star-Clipper

Dear Editor:

Recently we had an opportunity to stop in your beautiful historic town while spending a few days in Iowa. We became aware of the Shaker Gallery per the Tama County Visitors Guide. Although not officially open, there were three volunteers there who welcomed us in and gave us the history of the amazing collection and a tour of the Gallery. We had never seen a collection of this size and enjoyed viewing the salt and pepper shakers immensely. Marsha Mason, Mary Ellen Barnes and Maurita Haldy were the volunteers working that day to get the display ready to open. They, and all other volunteers who have assisted with displaying this large salt and pepper collection, and the director, Ellen Young need to be commended on their work. We really appreciated the hospitality extended to us by these ladies and we're glad we took the time to visit your town's Historic District. Hats off to all involved.
