The ladies of the North Tama Redhawk volleyball team are near the top of the Iowa Star Conference standings after evening their record at 6-6.
The girls won three of their five matches during the meet they hosted in Traer over the weekend.
Entering the day, the girls were 3-4. The day's match against Montezuma was dominated by seniors Emma Knoop and Shannon Stuart, who each had three kills. Junior Josie Youel also had two kills in the contest.
Aryn Eisenhower led the Redhawks with 11 assists to go along with two digs. In the serving game, Knoop was efficient, recording five aces and converting 13 of her 14 serves successfully. North Tama won the match 2-0.
The ladies suffered two losses to BGM, 1-2 and 0-2, respectively. Youel had 11 kills in the first of the two matches. Shayla Kopriva had eight digs, with Allie Zobel recording nine, as the Redhawks were on the defensive for most of the match.
North Tama shut down Belle Plaine and Meskwaki 2-0 in the final two matches of the day.
The Redhawks currently lead the conference in kills, aces and attack attempts.
The girls were back in action on Tuesday against Colo-NESCO, and hosted Northeast Hamilton on Thursday with results not available at press time. The girls head to Tripoli on Tuesday, September 11, for a road contest before returning to face Janesville at home on Friday, September 14.
