Auxiliary hosts scouts

Kubik-Finch Post #142 Legion Auxiliary met at the Memorial Building at 7 p.m. on October 16. President Diane Owens opened the meeting. The flags were placed by the Boy Scouts. Karen Podhajsky said an opening prayer. The pledge to the flag was said and the Star-Spangled Banner was sung by all with Sharon Allen at the piano. The preamble to the Constitution was said. The vacant chair was read by Kathy Manfull.

The Boy & Girl Scouts were the program for the night. The Boy Scouts and their leaders put on a very nice and interesting slide show of past and present accomplishments. The Girl Scouts also had a nice little program - telling us what they do at their meetings. All was very nice and each was presented with a check.

Roll call was answered by seven officers and the minutes were read. Kathy Manfull gave the treasury report.

Bills were paid to President Diane for mileage and Verona for food for our opening meeting. Everybody approved.

A letter was read from Pat McKinney about the Return the Favor quilts. Kathy Stammer motioned that we donate $100 to it and Audrey Babinat seconded it. All approved.

Kathy Stammer reported over $100 was given to the emergency fund.

There are over 80 percent in memberships.

Ramona Snow and Jean Kruse will he a program on education at the school gym at 2:30 p.m. November 1st. Cookies were recruited for the occasion. Bring Kleenex and hand sanitizer for the classrooms.

December 4th & 5th is gift wrap at the Iowa Veterans Home.

Karen offered a prayer.

God Bless America was sung by all. Audrey Babinat and Vic Barge retired the flag. Arlene Schmidt motioned we adjourn and Kathy Stammer seconded it. Meeting was adjourned by the President.

Lunch was served by Diane Owens. Thank you Diane - it was very good.

November 19th- Veterans Day Dinner Social Hour at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. at the Traer Memorial Building.

November 20th- Auxiliary 93rd Birthday at 7 p.m. Jean Beenken and Linda Ohrt will be hostesses. Mayor Pete Holden is our guest speaker. Bring a new teddy bear for the children's hospital.
