Hollywood of the Iowa plains? Before long, that's what Traer could be known as if things keep up like this. After producers had a successful stint earlier this year with "A Place for Heroes," another Iowa filmmaker will be looking for talent here in our little town.
Messersmith Productions, based in Des Moines, will be holding open auditions for roles in the upcoming action film "Another Brief Case" this weekend at the North Tama Activity Center.
Sunday, February 17, from 1 to 4 p.m., auditions will be held for four speaking and numerous non-speaking roles. No acting experience is needed and this is a great opportunity for people to experience an exciting film genre with lots of motorcycles.
The film will follow protagonist Tommy Jensen as he wakes up with the memory of his previous day lost before setting out on a quest for answers. He is pursued by Italian, Korean and Irish Mafia members once again, and this time, will also have to deal with the Lucifer's Demons motorcycle gang.
Filming of "Another Brief Case" is expected to take place on a weekend in April, so no work time will have to be missed by actors who are chosen to appear in the movie.
Messersmith Productions, begun in 2010 by Nick Messersmith, started as a freelance project and has grown from producing an instructional video for a local parks & recreation department to making several short and full-length feature films.
"A Brief Case," written and directed by Messersmith himself, has been produced during that time and the sequel will carry on the process of expanding the business. The company's goal is to produce three full-length films per year along with a television series and a few shorts.
