Mitchell Boerm was among the many Redhawks honored for his outstanding play on the basketball court this season with the recent release of All-State and Iowa Star All-Conference teams.
Boerm, who led the Redhawks in scoring and rebounding, was named as a Second Team All-State performer by the Iowa Newspaper Association at a March 2 meeting of writers and coaches from around the state. Boerm was also named to the Iowa Star Conference Elite Team by coaches from around the conference.
He is joined on the Elite squad by fellow North Tama senior Jacob Wrage, who was second on the team in scoring with a 10.7 PPG average. Wrage provided a much-needed boost in the backcourt and had a team high in both assists and steals during his senior campaign.
Boerm and Wrage were similarly named to the First Team South, along with fellow senior Dalton Hulme, who emerged as a scoring threat during the second half of the season. Hulme finished the year as the Redhawks' third-leading scorer with 9.3 PPG.
Nolan Hefty, a solid presence in the post for the Redhawks, was named to the Second Team South squad, averaging 8.8 PPG and 4.7 RPG this year. Brent Billerbeck, who served as the point guard for North Tama and helped facilitate one of the state's best offenses, was named Third Team South. Billerbeck had 66 assists and 46 steals on the season while averaging just over five points per game.
The Redhawks will miss the leadership of these five seniors, who have all signed letters of intent to play college basketball at the next level.
