NT baseball team continues winning ways

Don Bosco 5 NT 2

Conference rival Don Bosco beat North Tama 5 to 3 on Monday, June 3 in Gilbertville. The Redhawks drop to second place in the Iowa Star conference with the loss. The Redhawks out hit the Dons in the game nine to five, but made several mistakes that cost them the contest. Jacob Wrage was two for four at the plate scoring two runs. Brody Hulme was two for three scoring two runs and two RBI's. Huston Danker collected a single, a run and RBI. Brandon Kaufman hit a single to drive in a run. Jacob Wrage took his first loss on the hill. Wrage pitched the complete game giving up three earned runs on five hits and two walks. Wrage piled up seven strikeouts.

Turkey Valley 7 NT 4

The Redhawks came out flat loosing to Turkey Valley 7 to 4 in Sumner-Fredricksburg tourney on June 4. Brody Hulme and Caden Stuart each went two for four at the dish. Hulme added an RBI. Joey Kvidera and Dalton Hulme each added a single. Hulme drove in a run. Cameron Hoeg took the loss as the starting pitcher. Hoeg threw 3 1/3 innings allowing four earned runs on eight hits, two walks, while striking out four. Brandon Kaufman shut the door pitching 2 2/3 innings. Kaufman allowed just one walk and struck out four batters. Nashua-Plainfield forfeited to the Redhawks in the scheduled consolation game.

Redhawks 7 Janesville 4

The Redhawks traveled to Janesville on Wednesday, June 5 winning the ballgame 7 to 4. Dalton Hulme was the pitcher of record in the Iowa Star matchup. Hulme pitched five innings allowing one earned run. Hulme walked five and struck out two. Little brother, Brody Hulme came in for the save. B. Hulme pitched two innings and did not allow a run. B. Hulme whiffed two batters and allowed a free pass. Caden Stuart led the Hawks with two hits, two runs, and an RBI. Joe Kvidera smacked a single and drove in two runs. Brandon Kaufman had a RBI single.

Redhawks 15-Run GMG

The North Tama baseball squad beat GMG in four innings by the 15 run rule, 16 to 1 on Friday June 7. Four Redhawk batters had a multi hit game. Clayton Blocker went three for three at the plate, scoring a run and driving in two. Jacob Wrage drove in three runs on two base knocks, while scoring twice. Dalton Hulme crushed two doubles, collecting three runs and an RBI. Jacob Wrage earned the easy win pitching three innings, striking out six batters and allowing a hit. Cameron Hoeg pitched one inning, striking out two batters and an unearned run was scored.

NT wins EB Tourney

The Redhawks earned a championship at Winthrop on Saturday June 8. This is the second tournament the Redhawks have won this season in three tries. North Tama beat Wapsie Valley in first round action, 12 to 5. NT had five hitters with two or more hits in the slugfest. Brandon Kaufman lined two singles knocking in four runs, while scoring two. Caden Stuart smacked four hits, scoring a run and driving in another. Logan Zobel hit two singles and scored a run. Clayton Blocker hit three singles, stole three bases, and scored four runs. Dalton Hulme doubled twice collecting four RBI's. Brody Hulme pitched a complete game to earn the win on the hill. Hulme allowed four earned runs on 11 hits. Hulme whiffed nine batters.

The Redhawks beat the host team East Buchanon 11-8 in the finals. The young Redhawk baseball players led the hitting attack. Freshman Caden Stuart smashed a single and a double to drive in a run, while scoring one. Freshman Logan Zobel and 8th grader Cameron Hoeg each had two hits apiece driving in a run. Veteran Jacob Wrage added a hit and scored three times. Brandon Kaufman was the starting pitcher and the pitcher of record. Kaufman allowed five earned runs in four innings of work, on eight hits, one walk and three strikeouts. Hoeg earned a save on the mound pitching three innings. Hoeg did not give up a run while allowing three hits and he struck out five batters.

NT 11 Colo-Nesco 1

The NT baseball club defeated Iowa Star Conference foe Colo-Nesco by the ten run rule 11 to 1 in five innings at J.L. Lister Field. The game was played on Monday, June 10. The Redhawks only managed six hits in the contest, but were patient at the plate taking advantage of nine free passes. Jacob Wrage led the team with his bat and arm. Wrage collected two hits, two, RBI's, and three runs scored. Dalton Hulme hit a single to knock in two runs. Brent Billerbeck added a single and scored two runs. Cameron Hoeg scored three times and stroked a single. Jacob Wrage hurled the ball to earn the win. Wrage gave up two hits and two free passes. Caden Stuart got an inning of work striking out the side.

The win improves the baseball club to 12-4 on the season and 6-1 in Iowa Star Conference play. The Don Bosco Dons remain undefeated on the season and are currently the Iowa Star Conference leader. The Redhawks will play the Dons at J.L. Lister Field on Friday June 21 to try to earn a share of the Iowa Star Conference lead.

Redhawks Snap Six Game Winning Streak

The North Tama baseball club traveled to Belle Plaine on Tuesday June 11. The Hawks snapped a six game winning streak loosing to the Plainesmen 2-10. Belle Plaine took advantage of three Redhawk errors to pile up the runs. This has been the most runs given up by the Hawks all season. Brandon Kaufman added some offense with two hits, a run, and a run batted in. Jacob Wrage, Dalton Hulme, Brody Hulme, Caden Stuart, and Joey Kvidera each had a base hit. Dalton Hulme was the loosing pitcher, throwing three innings. Hulme gave up six runs but only two were earned. Clayton Blocker pitched two innings allowing just one hit and fanned two batters. Cameron Hoeg gave up four runs in one inning of work. The North Tama baseball squad drops to 12-5 on the season.
