Gladys Angeline (Tyler) Donnelly, of Traer, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013, at Sunrise Assisted Living Suites of natural causes. Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer. Scripture service will follow at 7 p.m. Service will be held at the church on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Traer.

Gladys Angeline (Tyler) Donnelly was born December 17, 1914 in Van Horne, IA, daughter of Irl LaRue and Mabel Angeline (Fry) Tyler. She received her education in country schools until the eight grade and then attended Van Horne High School and she graduated with the class of 1932. On June 7, 1937 she was united in marriage to Leo R. Donnelly at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton. Leo and Gladys then made their home in Vinton and Garrison where they owned and operated the Garrison Food Center from 1948 to 1972. In December of 1977 Gladys was hired as the Garrison Librarian where she played a big part in changing the library from a dusty collection of cast-off books to a source of the latest best-sellers and periodicals. In 1984 they moved to Traer to be closer to family, where she continued to live following Leo's death on January 30, 1998. Her death came on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Sunrise Hill Assisted Living Apartments in Traer at the age of 98 years with her family at her side. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was an active member of the Garrison American Legion Auxiliary Chapter and later transferred her membership to Traer Chapter, and participated at the county and district levels with the Benton County American Legion Auxiliary. She also was active in the Garrison Study Club, and Past Presidents Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leo, daughter Susan, two grandchildren, Timothy Michael Donnelly and James Edwin Kladivo, one brother Vernon; two sisters, Edna and Denese; and a son-in-law Edwin Kladivo. She is survived by one son Robert L. (Kathaleen) Donnelly of Cedar Rapids, IA, three daughters, Kay Kladivo and Mary (Don) Schellhase both of Traer and Judy (Michael) McClung of Prosper, TX, 14 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and one due in August.
