On July 18, 1953 Arlene Mae Snyder of Waterloo was married to Robert C. Krafka of rural Dysart at the historic Little Brown Church near Nashua, Iowa. Miss Snyder's parents were the C.H. Snyder's of Independence, Iowa and the groom's parents were the Chas. Krafka's of rural Dysart. Warren & Janet (Krafka) Messer were their attendants.
After a lifetime of farming southwest of Dysart they recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary with a family dinner party at a local restaurant. Their children Joan (Joseph) Meany of Waterloo, Dann of Solon, David, and Craig (Andrea) Krafka both of Dysart were hosts. Six of their nine grandchildren were present: Emily Krafka of Melbourne, Seth Meany of West Des Moines, Alex Krafka of Solon, Betsy Meany of Burnsville, MN, and Amy & Nicole Krafka both of Dysart. Three grandsons were unable to attend because of their current career assignments Staff Sergeant Shane Krafka, USAF stationed at Royal AFB Lakenheath outside of London, England; Peace Corp Volunteer Ryan Krafka a teacher of HS math & physics in an Italian Catholic mission compound near Chimoio, Mozambique, South Africa; and Ross Meany a quality engineer at Rockwell-Collins' Portland, Oregon area facility in Wilsonville. All three of Robert & Arlene's great-grandchildren were present. They are Ben Krafka of Melbourne; and Hadley & Fynn Krafka with their mother Bailey Schmitt-Krafka who surprised the honored couple by traveling from Bury St. Edmonds, England for the occasion.
Mrs. Krafka's pink linen wedding dress & matching duster ensemble was modeled by Amy Krafka.
A champagne punch & dessert reception was held following dinner at 3021 200th Street, Dysart, Iowa 52224.
