Note from the Superintendent...

August 23, 2013
Bob Cue - North Tama Superintendent , Traer Star-Clipper

The 2013 - 2014 school year is under way and promises to be an exciting academic year as we unveil a new and innovative technology initiative. Every student in grades 7-12 will be issued a new hand held computer device for their educational use, while our elementary students will be using newly purchased laptops or iPads. The feedback so far from students and parents has been positive.

The research on the 1:1 technology initiatives has been very positive. Most schools report student grades generally have increased especially writing skills, school attendance has risen, and students seem more eager to learn. Our current students have lived their whole lives in the technology world. And now is the perfect time for our school to bring the world of technology to their learning environment. One thing we must remember is technology like a textbook is a tool and not the cure all. Student effort is still one of the most important keys to learning.

This year North Tama CCSD must review the District Developed Service Delivery Plan (Special Education Plan). Anyone interested in reviewing this plan can contact the North Tama CCSD main office at 319-478-2265.

Thank you for your commitment to North Tama CCSD. "Moving From a Good School to a Great School!"
