Patrons of the Clutier Public Library are once again getting together to make a quilt for the Library Auction which will be held at 4:00pm on August 2, the second day of the Bohemian Plum Festival.
The quilt is always the last item on the auction.
For several years there has been a tradition of people getting together in the library to work on the quilt.
This year, in addition to the quilt made by the adults, the children's group made a tied fleece blanket to donate. The good will and camaraderie these projects generate impact many more people than are immediately apparent. Not only the people working on the quilt, but those watching and learning from the project gain from it, and of course, the funds raised directly benefit the community by helping keep the library running. This year, the funds raised from the children's blanket will be earmarked specifically for children's projects.
The quilt this year is queen-sized in shades of blue, white, yellow and black. We aren't sure what the actual name of the quilt pattern is, but we are calling it, "Summertime Blues". The blanket the kids made has M&M's on a brown background on the front and is plain yellow on the back. These items can be seen at the library or on the float that the kid's group is making for the parade. Other items for the auction can also be seen at the library any time during regular working hours, or all afternoon prior to the auction, on August 2.
