New attractions at Bohemian Plum Festival

August 1, 2014
Traer Star-Clipper

This year the committee has added several new attractions to their scheduled events. The Bohemian Plum Dumpling Boil will be added for the first time, but eating Bohemian Plum Dumplings has been a tradition among the Clutier Czech Community for many years. Make your way to the south end of Main Street to experience the traditional taste of a plum dumpling while they last.

The 28th annual Clutier Street Cruise will feature a popular 50s artist, Richie Lee, prior to the start of the cruise. Richie Lee will be performing on Main Street from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., adding the atmosphere of cruising and listening to music.

The Bohemian Plum Flea Market will feature more vendors this year and is located in the Plum Street Market building on the south end of Main Street. New vendors are still welcome and can call Char at 641-691-4926 for more information. They will be selling their wares on Friday, August 1st from 2 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, August 2nd from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The distinctive Czech bakery will be available for sale on both Friday and Saturday.

Saturday's events begin with the 5K Run and Walk at 8 a.m. The Veterans Parade begins at 11 a.m. with the Grand Parade to follow. Kiddie Parade starts at 1:30 p.m.

Award winning Storm Seymour will return by popular request and will be on stage from noon until 1 p.m. on Main Street.

Kiddie attractions include the money scramble, tractor pulls, bounce house, and a variety of new games for both kids and adults.

The annual Library Auction begins at 4 p.m. and the annual Firemans Hog Roast is from 5 to 7 p.m. The ZCBJ Lodge continues with their annual Bike Give Away.

A street band sponsored by Czech Point will start at 9 p.m. and concludes the day's events.
