North Tama began the 2014 season with a tough road loss. It turns out all the team needed was some home cooking.

The Redhawks rode senior running back Kelon Hansen's 196-yard rushing performance to a 29-6 victory over visiting GMG on Friday night.

Hansen, who averaged a whopping 7.5 yards per carry in the contest, also had a touchdown. Senior quarterback Brody Hulme ran 14 times for 35 yards, and completed 6-of-7 pass attempts for two touchdowns, both of which went to junior wide receiver Riley Rohach.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Redhawks were tough and gave up just one touchdown on the night, with junior Kyle Isenhower leading the team with 11 total tackles. Sophomore Parker Lunde had 3.5 tackles and a sack in the game.

North Tama is back on the road this Friday night for a date with Wapsie Valley, which fell 21-56 to South Winneshiek last week. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
