Norbert J. Caloud, 90

Norbert Joseph Caloud, 90, of Clutier passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer under the care of Hospice Compassus. Funeral Services were held Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Clutier Community Church in Clutier with Pastor James Perry officiating. Interment will follow at National Cemetery in rural Vining with Military Honors. Visitation was held on Friday, July 17, 2015 from 4-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a 40 & 8 service at 7:30 PM.

Norbert was born on February 18, 1925, on the family farm to Joseph and Mary (Kucera) Caloud.

He graduated from Clutier High School in 1942.

Norbert served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On February 18, 1947, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Kupka. He farmed east of Clutier all of his life. Norbert was an active member of the Clutier Community Church where he served as treasurer for many years. He was a Past Department Vice Commander, Past District Commander, Past County Commander and a Past Post Commander of the American Legion. He was also a Past Chef de Gare of the 40 & 8. Norbert was a life member of the Hora Machacek Post #453 of the American Legion, a member of 40 & 8, VFW, Clutier Community Church, a charter member of the Clutier Lions Club and a member of the International Harvester Collectors. He also served many years on the Clutier Rural Fire Board.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-eight years, Evelyn of Clutier; four children, Robert (Diane) Caloud of Clutier, Barbara (Ace) Perry of Marshalltown, Becky (Richard) Forster of Fancy Gap, VA and Mary Drake of Gladbrook; seven grandchildren, Leo and Tina Caloud, Jason and James Perry, Amanda Pitagno, Jody Pignatiello and Jacob Harrington; twelve great-grandchildren, Holden Caloud, Caitlin and Mackenzie Lynch, Hannah, Sam, Faith and Lydia Perry, Nick Pitagno, Graceyn and Kylie Pignatiello, Tayler and Paige Harrington.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Marie Vileta; and a twin brother, Wilbert Caloud.

Memorials may be directed to the American Legion Foundation or 40 & 8 Nurses scholarships.
