Robert H. Snow, 84

Robert Harvey Snow was born April 15th 1931 to Harvey and Norma Snow in Tama county (Traer), Iowa. He slipped the surly bonds of earth to be with our Lord on September 15th 2015. He was 84. Bob grew up with three brothers and two sisters on the Snow family farms throughout Tama County and attended Dinsdale High School where his brother Jim Snow was one of the famous "Dinsdale Five" that took third place in the 1952 Iowa State Championships. Bob Snow enlisted in the Navy in 1950, attended boot camp in San Diego, California and was assigned to USS Gloucester, a destroyer based out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, as a Quartermaster. He was honorably discharged in 1954 and attended Iowa State University where he graduated with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering. He married Sara Louise Riepma in December 1959.

Upon Graduation, he accepted a job with the Boeing Aircraft Company in Seattle Washington where he worked as a Flight Operations Engineer, Field Service Representative and Maintenance Training Instructor over the course of 55 years, from 1959 to 2014. He retired from Maintenance Training in January, 2014 and was a walking wealth of knowledge of Boeing history from the 707 to the 787 series jets.

His love of aviation continued outside of the office through the Boeing Employees Flying Club, where he instructed in all manner of general aviation aircraft, float planes and multi engine. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, a Cub Scout leader and Scoutmaster for Troop 433 in Bellevue, Washington. He was an avid outdoorsman and even took up skiing at age 56, with lessons every Wednesday at Alpental Ski Area in Snoqualmie pass. He made his residences in Bellevue, Washington, Wenatchee, Washington and Bulverde, Texas.

He is survived by Sara Snow of Bellingham, Washington; and children Sheryl and Roger Vanleeuwen of Bellingham, Washington; Scott and Lisa Snow of Bulverde, Texas; and Sandra and Jym McMurdo of Kirkland, Washington.

A memorial ceremony and spreading of the ashes will be held at Camp Parsons Boy Scout Camp in July 2016 with reception and details to follow.

In Lieu of flowers, donations to Boy Scouts of America, Seattle Council earmarked for Camp Parsons BSA.
