Eugene "Gene" L. Rosauer, 93, of Dysart, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 2, 2016. Visitation will be held at the Overton Funeral Home in Dysart on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. with a service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Porte City on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Dysart.

Eugene "Gene" Leonard Rosauer was born on January 26, 1922, in Eagle Center, the son of Leonard and Elizabeth (Schmitz) Rosauer. He graduated from St. Mary's of Mt. Carmel High School in Eagle Center. On February 26, 1946, Gene was united in marriage to Margaret Farrell at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blessing. Gene was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed farming with his son for nearly 40 years. He also spent ten years as a 4H leader, nine years on the Tama Benton Coop Board, was named Iowa Master Swine Producer in 1973 and Cow Calf Man of the Year in Benton County. He was also featured on the cover of Wallaces Farmer magazine in November of 1987 and served twelve years as Chief Ranger of the Catholic Foresters. Gene was an avid New York Yankee fan and had a passion for farming, especially Hereford Cattle. Gene died at the age of 93 on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at his home in Dysart. He was preceded in death by his wife; a great-granddaughter; four sisters, Evelyn, Ardella, Margaret, and Magdalen; and a brother, Donald. Gene is survived by a son, Wayne (Ann) Rosauer of Dysart; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law.
