Gary D. Bevins, 66

Gary Dean Bevins was born on July 2, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Keith and Wilma (Benda) Bevins. He grew up in Belle Plaine and graduated from Belle Plaine High School. In 1992, Gary was united in marriage to Linda Ross. Gary worked for the railroad and worked in maintenance at area care centers. His primary role was taking care of his family and extended family. Gary enjoyed food, family, fishing, hunting, camping, his dogs, sports (especially the Hawkeyes), and oldies music, which he sang out of tune. Gary died suddenly at the age of 66 on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo after spending the day with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sheryal Bevins. Gary is survived by he wife, Linda of Traer; a son, Sterling (Darlene) Dedic of Council Bluffs; two daughters, Shawn (Bruce) Grimm of Dysart and Staci Ross of Colorado Springs, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Morgan, Carson, Nathan, Eden, Tyler, Jacob and Joseph; two brothers, Jim and David Bevins; a sister, Margaret "Peggy" Ricevuto; two special aunts, Zina Gordon and Karen Graham; and many nieces and nephews.
