Larry E. Barge, 79

Larry Eugene Barge was born on December 7, 1936, in Emerson, Nebraska, the son of Henry and Martha (Fey) Barge. He attended school in Traer and Dysart at went to college in Colorado. On January 24, 1959, Larry was united in marriage to Viola Kuhn in Traer. Larry was a decorated Veteran of the United States Army and served for 26 years. During that time, he was stationed in Germany, Korea, Vietnam, Alaska, and eight bases stateside. Larry also worked in Real Estate, taught computer classes at junior colleges, and was the director of computer operations at TTI Corp. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, a past commander of the Traer American Legion, and drove for the Traer Ambulance. He enjoyed golfing, running 5ks, softball, fishing, gardening, playing cards, and woodworking. Larry died at the age of 79 on Sunday, July 3, 2016, at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Pete; and three sisters, Evelyn, Marian, and Betty. Larry is survived by his wife; a daughter, Jeanette (Aaron) Hale of Columbia, South Carolina; two sons, Edward (Chris) Barge of San Antonio, Texas and Dennis Barge of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Sturtz of Marshalltown and JoAnn Meyer of Vinton; and brother, Roger Barge of Eagle Grove.
