North Tama FFA members take part in livestock judging contest

A group of North Tama FFA members traveled to Kirkwood Community College on October 10th to participate in the Linn-Mar FFA livestock judging contest. The contest consisted of judging breeding cattle, market and breeding swine, breeding sheep and market goats. There were over 80 teams and 280 individuals judging at the event.

North Tama had an outstanding showing as they brought home several trophies and ribbons at the end of the day. Carter Pokorny was the overall Champion individual judger. Molly Kvidera received 4th place and Carissa Calderwood came in 10th. Other individual performances to note are: Carissa Calderwood 1st in Sheep. Carter Pokorny 5th in cattle. Molly Kvidera 9th in Swine.

The team of Carter Pokorny, Karly Jans, Katelyn Kucera and Levi Beenken won 2nd place overall honors in the team division. The team placed 3rd in cattle, 4th in sheep and 7th in swine. The team of Molly Kvidera, Carissa Calderwood, Madeline Espenscheid, and Cody Jones took home 7th place overall team honors. They also placed 1st in swine and 7th in sheep.
