Donald W. Hulme, 74, of Denver, Iowa passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at his residence in Denver, Iowa.

Donald Wayne Hulme was born on May 5, 1942, the son of Arlo and Lola (Vangorp) Hulme in Dinsdale, Iowa. He graduated from Dinsdale High School in 1960. After high school he farmed with his dad. In 1964, he entered the Army, serving in Germany until his discharge in 1967. In 1973, Don started at John Deere water works. On November 22, 1975, he was united in marriage to Barbara Kucera at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, rural Clutier, Iowa and resided in rural Denver where they raised their three children. He retired from John Deere in 2002. Upon retirement, the couple moved to "retire/farm" in VanWert, Iowa.

Don enjoyed his cows, fishing and hunting, however his greatest passion was spending time with his grandchildren. Don was diagnosed with cancer in July of 2016.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara Hulme of Denver, Iowa; two daughters, Teresa (Stan) Janowski of Prophetstown, Illinois and Glori (Carl) Haidar of Middletown, Wisconsin; son, Samuel (Jennifer) Hulme of Clutier, Iowa; five grandchildren, Thomas and Emily Hulme, Julie, Jason and Jacob Haidar; two sisters, Judy (Vernon) Zmolek of Traer, Iowa and Lumae (Don) Podhajsky of Traer, Iowa; brother, Jerry (Marilyn) Hulme of Traer, Iowa and his father-in-law, Vitus Kucera of Marshalltown, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Hilda Kucera.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 10:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer, Iowa with Fr. David G. Kucera presiding. Burial will follow in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery, rural Clutier, Iowa with Military Rites conducted by the Kubik-Finch American Legion, Post 142. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 2nd from 4:00 pm until 7:00 with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver, Iowa and also an hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to either St. Jude Foundation or Cedar Valley Hospice of Waverly and online condolences for Don may be left at
