The Dengler Domain: Desserts

December 23, 2016

With cold weather comes warm desserts, it is a joyful time of year. I love eating fresh out of the oven chocolate chip cookies, hot chocolate, or chocolate brownies. There is only one warm dessert I love more than all other warm desserts. It starts with a p and ends with an e. It is pie. This delicious dessert warms my belly up after each scrumptious slice I eat, but pie brings its own challenges. It is too hard to decide on a kind of pie.

First off, a major deciding factor of the type of pie is not having a pie which is said with more than five syllables. Keep it simple and keep tradition. This is why pumpkin pie is one of my all-time favorites. Nothing is better than devouring a slice of this yummy brown pie and feeling the pumpkin flavor texture fill up the crevices of the mouth. Pumpkin pie's greatest trait is not having crust on top. This allows the pumpkin to be maximized in the pie, and the pie eater's happiness level will only go up.

No pie list can exclude the Old Faithful, the New York Yankees, or McDonald's of pies, apple pie. This is the bread and butter of pies. The classic go to for anyone looking to foray into developing a love for pie. It is also a great palate cleanser for pie eaters. The best part of apple pie is the apple slices hidden throughout the pie. With the slices spread out throughout the pie filling, an apple pie lover's quench is not filled until every last apple slice is found. No one goes wrong by eating a slice of apple pie. Sadly, for apple pie, it is not going to blow anyone's mind.

But strawberry, rhubarb blows minds because it is downright delicious. I am a big fan of rhubarb and combining it with strawberry is the best decision for a pie. Every taste bud is overcome with satisfaction because of the richness and flavor. Never have I ate a bad strawberry, rhubarb pie. My face lights up with a smile whenever I gnaw down on this delicious pie. Give me strawberry, rhubarb pie any day of the week, and I'll be a happy man for the rest of my life.

Now I'm too hungry to go to sleep because it has been too long since I ate a delicious pie. Hopefully, I will eat one soon and feel better than ever. Whether it is pumpkin, apple, strawberry, rhubarb, or any other delicious pie, go out and eat a whole pie, eating one slice is no fun. Be the beast who destroys pie because I know I will.
