Traer Star-Clipper

Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary held a sewing day on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Clutier post home. Day began at 9am tearing, sewing, and rolling sheets for carpet weaving for IVH in Marshalltown. Those in attendance were: Mary Seda, Pauline Sienknecht, Eileen Hora, Lillian Dostal, Marcella Caslavka, Diane Caloud, and Veronica Pavlicek. At noon all enjoyed four soups, sliders, salads, and dessert. Of course during meal enjoyed fellowship discussing what we all had done for Christmas.

Monthly meeting began at 2pm conducted by President Veronica. Last months minutes were read and approved. Treasurer Diane gave units financial report. Mary Seda made a motion to send a donation to the Clutier 1st Responders and a donation to the Clutier Fire Dept. It was seconded by Pauline Sienknecht and motion carried.

Itemized Donation Documentation reported that Veronica had delivered 13 pounds of carpet balls to IVH. These we had done at our November sewing day. Received notice from South Tama County Food Pantry that our unit had donated 67 1/2 pounds to them in December. Items were non-perishable food and paper products we had collected at our December meeting, and were delivered by Diane Caloud.

Diane passed out croqueted cotton dish cloths to everyone that Evelyn Caloud makes. Happy Birthday was sung to Eileen Hora.

Will have sewing day on February 7th. Day will begin at 9am with potluck at noon. For a break in the midst of winter anyone please come and join us to sew carpet rags, fellowship and food. There are things to do besides using a sewing machine. Monthly meeting will be in the afternoon.
