Edith Viola Andrews was born on July 31, 1920, in rural Buckingham, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Rachel (Vikum) Stearns. Edith grew up on the family farm near Buckingham. She spent three years working for her sister, Faye Wolthoff, in Leroy, Minnesota. She then worked in Waterloo. On October 12, 1940, Edith was united in marriage to Kenneth Andrews. The couple had five children; James, Steven, Carole, Linda, and Laura. Kenneth died on July 21, 2002. Edith then married Don Blankenship and later divorced. Edith has been living in Brainerd, Minnesota with her daughter, Linda Andrews, since July 17, 2006 and spent her Winters in Salome, Arizona with her son, Steve. She loved to cook, bake, make quilts, and spend time with her family. Edith died at the age of 96 on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at her home in Brainerd, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Carole and Laura; four sisters, Florence Grainge, Iva Jones, Faye Wolthoff, and Ruth McLane; and a brother, Fred Stearns. Edith is survived by two sons, James (Barbara) Andrews and Steve Andrews; a daughter, Linda Andrews; 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
