March 31, 2017
Traer Star-Clipper

If honey production has piqued your interest or if you're interested in pollinators, you'll enjoy an upcoming Learning Session hosted by Tama County Women, Land & Legacy, the group's thirtieth event.

What's the Buzz? Bees 101 will be held on Thursday, April 6 at Peace United Church of Christ, 201 Johnston Street in Gladbrook. Dessert and registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the event following at 7:00. Please use the ground floor door on the church's west side.

Presenter Margaret Hala and her husband of rural Marshalltown have enjoyed beekeeping for over 30 years. Margaret has also held several officer roles in the Iowa Honey Producers and Central Iowa Beekeepers Associations. She's also currently Co-Manager and Secretary for the Marshalltown Farmers Market at the Cartwright Pavilion.

Please RSVP by April 5 by phoning Mel at 641-484-2702, ext. 305 or emailing her at melody.bro@ia.nacdnet.net.

This event is free and open to the general public of all ages.

Tama County Women, Land & Legacy began in 2007, part of a statewide USDA outreach project. The project is currently active in nearly thirty Iowa counties and brings together Iowan women interested in agriculture, local food and natural resources to converse, listen and become empowered for involvement on their landscape and in their communities.

Persons needing accommodations to participate in this event should contact 641/484-2702, ext. 305, TDD# or Federal Relay Service at 1-800-877-8339 or melody.bro@ia.nacdnet.net at least 48 hours before the event. USDA is an equal opportunity employer, provider, and lender. USDA and Extension programs are available to all without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, or disability.
