P.E.O. International President to speak in Marshalltown May 21

President Beth Ledbetter will be the featured speaker at the 120th anniversary celebration of P.E.O. Chapter BB. Ledbetter began her P.E.O. career in Chadron, Neb., 40 years ago. Her family moved to Tennessee shortly after she joined The Sisterhood. She was elected to the Tennessee State Board in 1995, serving as president in 2001. After finishing a six year term as a trustee for the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education, Ledbetter was elected to the Executive Board of the P.E.O. International Chapter as Recording Secretary in 2007. She is currently in the second year of a two-year term as president.President Ledbetter will be the third international president to visit Chapter BB over its 120 year history. Chapter BB was organized on MAY 21, 1897. "All P.E.O. members are invited to join as we celebrate this significant occasion," said Mary Kenagy, president of Chapter BB. She added, "The event will take place at the Tallcorn Towers Ballroom at 2:30 p.m. on May 21. In addition to meeting and listening to the featured speaker, members will be entertained with a historical presentation, some musical selections and enjoy a celebratory afternoon tea."P.E.O. is a philanthropic education organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans; stewardship of Cottey College and the motivation of women to achieve their highest aspirations. P.E.O. was organized with seven founders in 1869 in Mount Pleasant. Currently, there are approximately 250,000 members and 6,000 chapters across the United States and Canada. The Sesquicentennial Celebration of P.E.O. will be held in Des Moines in 2019.All P.E.O. members are invited attend the 120th celebration of Chapter BB.
