Patricia E. Luiken, 75

April 14, 2017
Traer Star-Clipper

Patricia Estell (Holland) Luiken was born on October 8, 1941 in Jamaica, Iowa to Thomas Weldon and Mary Ione (Morgan) Holland. She attended Jamaica Consolidated Schools and graduated in 1960. She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, IA where she graduated with honors in 1964. It was in the concert choir at Buena Vista where she met her beloved husband Louis, and they were married on June 29, 1963. They settled in Radcliffe, where Pat taught 6th grade Language Arts prior to the birth of their daughters Jennifer and Suzanne.

Pat was a longtime member of Faith Evangelical Church where she served on the Women's Missionary Fellowship, the floral committee, the praise team, and as church pianist for nearly 40 years. She loved beautiful things and enjoyed a 40-year career as a displayer with Home Interiors and Gifts, helping others make their homes beautiful. After her girls were grown, her lifelong love of music inspired her to teach piano lessons out of her home where she taught many students over the course of 25 years. She was a member and Master Teacher of the Music Teachers National Association and served as an officer with the Music Teachers of Central Iowa chapter.

Pat went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Hubbard Care Center.
