Hora-Machacek holds June meeting

Six members of the Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary met on Tuesday, June 6th at 7PM at the post home. Flags were in place already. Mary Seda said prayer and The Vacant Chair. Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and Preamble to the Auxiliary was recited by all. Secretary Margaret called the roll and read last months minutes which were approved as read.

Treasurer Diane gave our units financial report. Mary Seda made a motion to send a monetary thank you to Gary Proctor, our poppy maker at IVH and seconded by Julia Babinat. Motion carried. We have received our refund from Girls State. Diane reported that she has ordered 10 bronze makers for deceased members graves. Reported receipts from poppy distribution and filled out the Annual Poppy Report to send to State Headquarters in DesMoines. Diane will be giving a monetary donation to the Clutier Library to purchase books in memory of following deceased members: Darlene Konicek, Martha Untiedt, Gloria Hlas, and Linda Hosek.

Read thank you from Nicole Clapp for the monetary donation for her leadership fund. She is running for ALA National President in 2019-2020.

On May 23rd we gathered at the hall to clean and update crosses and trellises. They will be place at four cemeteries for Memorial weekend. Those helping were: Marcia Kupka, Sandy Kopriva, Mary Seda, Pauline Sienknecht, Diane Caloud, Eileen Hora, Linda Dvorak, and Veronica Pavlicek. The Legion along with the Auxiliary placed the crosses and trellises at the Veterans and Auxiliary graves on Saturday, May 27th. Those helping were: Tracy Sienknecht, Pauling Sienknecht, Eileen Hora, Mary Seda, Diane Caloud, Collette Wiebbecke, and Cindy Hamann. On Monday, Memorial Day, Diane Caloud, Pauline Sienknecht and Collette Wiebbecke traveled with the Legion to the cemetaries for the Legions salute to the Veterans.

Mary Seda made a motion that if a member is hostess for a 2nd line in a year that she be reimbursed. There are seven months that we need a hostess so when receive your year planner please check for your name to be listed. Motion was seconded by Julia Babinat. Motion carried. Auxiliary year is August through July.

Tama County Joint meeting is Tuesday, June 27th at the Traer post home.. Evening will begin with potluck at 6:30PM. Following will be flag disposal ceremony and then the meeting.

Diane Caloud won the door prize. We will not have a July meeting. Our next meeting will be August 1st at 7PM. IVH picnic sponsored by Tama County is Saturday August 5th. Mary Seda was hostess and all enjoyed egg salad sandwiches and rhubarb cake.
