Clutier Public Library News

October 20, 2017
Patti Kupka , Traer Star-Clipper

The library is anticipating a really busy end of the year. We have several activities planned for the next few weeks starting with the annual Election Day Soup Day on November 7. For many years the library volunteers have served chili, chicken noodle soup, bean soup, beefburgers and desserts on election day, so get out and vote and then come join us for an excellent meal. Many of the soup ingredients and all of the desserts are donated by our community of library supporters and the people working that day are all volunteers. All proceeds from soup day benefit the library. This year we are having drawings for Kwik Star gift certificates throughout the day.

On November 10 we will honor our local veterans and their significant others with a coffee at the Community Room at City Hall from 2 - 3:30pm. We have done this for a few years for the veterans and it has been well received. We will have kolaches and bars to go along with the coffee.

Monday, November 13 we will welcome Logan, from Otter Creek, to the Community Room at 9am. She will give a presentation about the wild turkeys in Iowa. Years ago they were nearly extinct in Iowa and her talk will be about the efforts to bring them back. Logan was here on October 9 and presented a program about Nocturnal Animals which was enjoyed by all of the attendees. Her programs are intended for all ages so we are moving our coffee to the community room and inviting anyone, of any age, to attend.

Thanksgiving is November 23 this year. The library will be closed both Thursday and Friday that week and open up again on Saturday, November 25. On December 9 we will have our annual cookie exchange. I will have more details on that later.
