North Tama netters hold off G-R

Katie Kopriva and Karly Jans combined for 38 kills as Class 1A No. 8 North Tama took down Gladbrook-Reinbeck in four sets here Thurday night, 21-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-13.

Kopriva came away with 22 kills on 46 swings for the Redhawks (26-7), adding 15 digs and a team-leading three service aces to the mix. Jans had 16 kills and a team-high three blocks.

Isabel Sierra finished with 38 assists and 13-for-13 serving with two aces, and Takoa Kopriva led the way with 20 digs.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck (22-9) was led by 12 kills apiece from Saari Kuehl and Megan Swanson. Maddie Frischmeyer finished with 38 assists and three total blocks, and Paige Eiffler chipped in nine kills. Swanson led the defense with eight digs in the loss.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck hosts AGWSR in Tuesday's 1A Region 3 opener, while North Tama has a first-round bye in Region 4 play. The Redhawks will host either Lynnville-Sully or Collins-Maxwell on Oct. 23 in Traer.
