Letter to the Editor: Gas utility will cost homeowners more

October 20, 2017
Cynthia Butts - Traer, Iowa , Traer Star-Clipper

I am a little confused. A letter addressed to my address was received with no return address. And, it had a preprinted label like it was from TMU or City of Traer. The writer states "I am writing to you today..." but the typed closing is "Supporters of Citizens for Traer's Future." So, who is it from? If these citizens feel so strongly about the gas franchise, why don't they use their names?

I am against TMU taking over the gas system. It has been voted down several years ago. Why bring it up again? I believe it will cost homeowners more money. New employees will have to be hired ($$$), training in gas operations will be necessary ($$$), and tearing up to start new gas lines will be a mess. How can you condemn something that works?

Please join me and vote NO on Nov. 7th. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

P.S. - One person with a YES sign in the yard and a propane tank. Does that make sense?
