Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary met on Tuesday, December 5th at the post home in Clutier. President Veronica called the meeting to order at 2pm with 7 members in attendance. Mary Seda said prayer. Group recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and Preamble to the Auxiliary. Secretary Margaret called the roll and read last months minutes which were approved as read. Treasurer Diane had provided the financial report which Veronica reviewed with the ladies. The unit had sent in the amount due by December 1st for Girls State. It was suggested that the unit send a monetary amount to the Legion to assist with fuel bill for months of December, January, February, and March. Julia Babinat made a motion seconded by Eileen Hora to assist Legion with fuel bill. Motion carried. Money for candy for the IVH nut cups will be sent to Dept in Des Moines.

The Christmas tree was put up and decorated by Marilyn Svoboda and Jackie Chambers. The tree is decorated in red, white, and blue to honor our veterans. Veronica had brought a nut cup for the ladies to see. They are being made for IVH with winter theme for their January trays.

Julia and Margaret will deliver the non-perishable food and paper products to the NE Iowa Food Pantry. These products were brought to the meeting by the ladies attending.

Marlus Svoboda brought 2 finished lap quilts she completed from our November sewing day. Pauline Sienknecht brought balls of plastic bags she had cut and balled for the crocheted veteran's sleeping mats. Margaret is currently crocheting the mats. It takes about 1000 grocery bags to make a 3X6 foot mat.

Veronica read several articles regarding the closing of Heinz Hall at IVH by September of 2018. After several meetings hearing residents concerns, the decision was reversed not to close Heinz Hall.

Happy Birthday was sung to Mary Seda. A birthday card was signed by all and will be sent to Vera Sevcik. Door prize was won by Mary Seda.

Our next get together is January 2nd and is a sewing day. At noon will be having soup, salad, and sandwich lunch. Day will begin at 9am. Monthly meeting about 1:30pm.

Mary Seda said prayer. Eileen Hora and Marcella Caslavka retired the colors. Lunch was served consisting of chicken salad sandwiches and apple bread prepared by Pauline Sienknecht and served by Eileen Hora.
