Michael "Mike" P. Pargeon, 51

Michael "Mike" Paul Pargeon, 51, of Traer, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at his shop in Traer from a pulmonary embolism. Visitation will be held at the Traer Memorial Building on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. with a service at North Tama High School on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m.

Mike was born on June 24, 1966, in Oskaloosa, the son of Paul and Beverly (Dawley) Pargeon. Mike graduated from Montezuma High School in 1985. He was the first wrestling state qualifier for Montezuma. On November 21, 1992, Mike was united in marriage to Gretchen Ludden at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Traer. Two daughters were born to this union, Emily and Olivia. Mike started working for AWE in 1992 and became a part owner in 1993. In 2001, Mike became the sole owner of the business. He enjoyed helping anyone in need. Mike was a coach and a mentor to younger kids. He loved anything with wheels, camping, boating, snowmobiling, and riding his motorcycle. Mike especially enjoyed being on the farm with his family and traveling. He and his girls traveled to 35 states and four countries together.

Mike was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Richard. Mike is survived by his mother; his wife; two daughters, Emily Pargeon of Charlotte, Iowa and Olivia Pargeon of Traer; three brothers, Wes (Gina) Pargeon of Montezuma, Curtis (Julie) Pargeon of Urbandale, and Daryl (Allison) Pargeon of Montezuma; a sister, Jana (Bill) Freeborn of New Sharon; and 12 nieces and nephews, Caitlin Studley, Erica Podhajsky, Beau Freeborn, Aliya Pargeon, Rachel Freeborn, Brett Podhajsky, Mya Pargeon, Kate Pargeon, Harlea Pargeon, Ava Pargeon, Jake Pargeon, and Rett Pargeon.
