The new year has brought historic changes to the Traer City Council. With the swearing-in of Laurie Schafer, the council's newest member, for the first time the council has a majority of women serving.

Laurie is the third female currently serving on the council, along with Dahn Kennedy and Carri Holst. They are joined by Stephen Foster and Josh Youel, also newly elected members.

The next city council meeting will be Monday, March 5 at 7 p.m.
