Lynn V. Gruchow, 72

Lynn Vern Gruchow was born on January 11, 1946, in Spencer, Iowa, the son of Lyle and Marian (Van Oort) Gruchow. Lynn made it to state, wrestling for North Tama and graduated from North Tama High School in 1964. He then attended Marshalltown Community College. Lynn served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was also stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas. On June 3, 1972, Lynn was united in marriage to Shirley Lee in Cedar Falls. Lynn worked as a credit finance manager for Abco Financing and retired from Teledex in Silicon Valley, California, in 2006. He and Shirley then moved to Traer. Lynn was a humanitarian and traveled abroad to the Philippines, China, and Vietnam. He was a member of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Traer American Legion, and helped with the Traer Historical Museum. Lynn died at the age of 72 on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his father. Lynn is survived by his mother; his wife; a son, Greg (Gruchow of Cedar Rapids; four brothers, Dennis (Janice) of Waterloo, Kirby (Patty) of Waterloo, Tim (Sarah) of California, and Keith (Robin) of Traer; and twin grandsons, Evan and Wesley. There will be a visitation at Overton Funeral Home on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. and a service Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. Luke Evengelical Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m.
