Corbin continues hitting the greens at age 98

Richard Corbin may be 98 years young, but that hasn't stopped him from going out to Traer Golf and Country Club to off the greens and enjoy an afternoon on the course. Corbin moved to Traer in 1963, a neighbor across the street attempted to get him to golf. Four years later, the insurance salesman picked up a golf club for the first time ever. 52 years later, Corbin still makes time for a sport he enjoys.

"I enjoy being out here, the companionship and enjoyed the game," Corbin said. "It's a little exercise for me for old guys like me."

course on Tuesday evenings. After retiring, he was out "almost whenever the sun was shining." He would go out with friends Donnie Gates, Bob Clark and others for rounds on the course, but now jokes he plays with "anyone he can talk into it."

In addition to playing golf, Corbin enjoys following professional golf, including current players such as Iowa's own Zach Johnson. In his years playing on the course, Corbin has only parred once on a bet. He's been in the 30s in his "younger days", but remarks he still takes pleasure coming out for a few holes.
